
I've had my nose in a book for as long as I can remember. For me, stories are portals to adventure to new ways of imagining. And they are also a sanctuary, a way to feel connected to people hundreds of miles away, or hundreds of years away.
I believe stories are how we understand ourselves and the world, and that by paying attention to the stories we hold onto, share and seek out, we can build a more hopeful world.
I come to Shared Story with a background of working in the voluntary sector, then higher education, and more recently running my own writing business. I'm excited for how we can bring more people in York and the surrounding areas together over coffee, books and biscuits - three of my favourite things.

What is a Zine?

Zines - historically, zines presented groups that have been dismissed with an opportunity to voice their opinion, both with other members of their own communities or with a larger audience. Cheap to make, they can be silly or serious.
